On December 24, 2019, he was hospitalized at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in College Station, Texas. 

Sadly, three days later, he died of complications from lung disease at the age of 79.

Deirdre and her husband Don founded Imus Ranch in 1999 for children with cancer. 

However, as per the article published by Wall Street Journal reporter in March 2005, the Ranch was accused of accounting irregularities and tax deduction. 

Reportedly, Imus' used the property for their personal use.
