Deirdre and her husband Don founded Imus Ranch in 1999 for children with cancer. 

However, as per the article published by Wall Street Journal reporter in March 2005, the Ranch was accused of accounting irregularities and tax deduction.

The Ranch was also criticized for its high cost. They spent more than $2.5 million on 90 children who stayed at the Ranch, which comes to $28,000 per child.
