In her conversation, Shrager stated:

My husband and I had sold our house in London and he invested all our money in houses in Cornwall. He was doing them up when interest rates leapt. He couldn't afford to finish the project."

She continued:

The bank took everything from us. I had to sell all the land I had inherited from my father to pay everything off. It got to the point where I couldn't afford food, clothes, and everything else.

She then revealed how all those things affected their relationship, and the duo eventually separated:

My husband never recovered from what happened to us and we separated. Even now, 30 years later, I find it hard to talk about.

How Much Is The Net Worth Of Rosemary Shrager? Restaurants And Other Assets

As of October 2022, Rosemary Shrager is estimated to have a net worth of £3 million. Her major income source is her career as a chef.

Reportedly, she makes between £100k and £500k from working as a chef and from her television appearances.

In addition, she is an author who earns a considerable sum from book sales and royalties. All her books are available on Amazon and are sold for between £3 and £11 in the Kindle edition and £6 and £20 in paperback.

Similarly, she has her own set of kitchen appliances, which she designed herself. On her website, she wrote:

Rosemary Shrager Net Worth

She and her family moved to Cornwall, where Rosemary had opened her own restaurant, but the recession hit in 2008, and they lost everything.

My husband and I lost everything in 2008 due to the recession. All we had was a suitcase. We lost the house, our dog, our cat . . . everything.

"I thought 'right, I'm going to bloody well get on with it'. I went to work for all sorts of people in all sorts of places - I didn't care what I did."

Determined to "get her credibility back," Shrager worked even harder and achieved all the things she dreamed of.

Her Views On Money And Saving

As mentioned, Rosemary Shrager understands the value of money as she has lost her relationship because of it. But also because her parents always helped her understand and value money.

They tried to teach me the value of money by keeping me very short of it. My father was first a managing director and then went into the banking industry.

My mother was a housewife, although when my siblings and I were young she employed a cleaner and a nanny, and then we went to boarding school. She did lots of cooking and baking and grew her own vegetables.

The chef also mentioned that she started saving after turning 50.

I started saving into one when I was 50. Now I receive it, along with my state pension and half of my late husband's state pension.

As for her other assets, she has a house in East Sussex.

It is a flat in a converted old chapel in East Sussex. I renovated it so it is exactly how I want it, with an office, two bedrooms and a studio kitchen where I do cooking demonstrations.

I'd rather not say how much it's worth, but I have spent £100,000 on it and I think it's gone up in value by at least that much. I plan to stay here for the rest of my life. At my age, you need security.
