She is the eldest daughter of filmmaker Garin Nugroho and Riani Ikaswati.

Garin Nugroho born Garin Nugroho Riyanto is very popular Indonesian film director.

The 61-year-old began writing at a young age as his father owned a  lending library and spent most of his time with books.

After graduating from Kolese Loyola high school in 1981. he attended the Jakarta Institute of Arts to study filmmaking.

Nugroho made his directorial debut in 1991 with the movie titled  Cinta Dalam Sepotong Roti (Love in a Slice of Bread).

It was critically acclaimed, and the film earned six Citra award nominations (Best Movie, Best Director, Best Editing, Best Music, Best Artistic Scenes, and Best Cinematography) at the Indonesian Film Festival (IFF).
