There are not many details about her parents but as per Wikipedia, her mother is a nurse while her father works in charity.

Lydia studied at Identity School of Acting, and after graduating with a degree in business, she worked there as a PA and trained part-time. 

Prior to acting, she was much into singing and dancing-trained in tap, ballet, jazz, and contemporary; however, because of a serious foot injury, she had to quit dancing.

The promising actress Lydia West made her on-screen debut following her role as Bethany Bisme-Lyons in Russell T Davies’ BBC and HBO series ” Year and Year,” which premiered on 24 June. 

She appeared in the recurring role on the six-part sci-fi series that follows the life of the British Manchester-based Lyons family.

In a similar manner, West was cast in a guest role as Lucy Westenra in BBC one series "Dracula" (2020), which is a horror drama created by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat. 

The three episodic series premiered on 1 January 2020 and were broadcast over three consecutive days before releasing on Netflix.

Later, in 2021, the Dracula star got an opportunity to play the role of Jill Baxter in the channel four series “It’s a Sin” by Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe. 

The show, based on the HIV crisis that happened in the UK, explores the tale of five gay friends whose lives intersect in a flat and form a group of friends.

The cult-hit show features stars like Olly Alexander as Ritchie Tozer, Callum Scott Howells as Colin Morris-Jones, and Omari Douglas as Roscoe Babatunde.
