Why Jojo Gibbs Came Out To Her Mother Two Times?
Coming out is never easy-the fear of disappointing your loved ones, and a massive desire for acceptance from them often comes in the way of one's true identity.
Coming out one time is difficult, but in the case of the actress and comedian, she had to come out two times to her mom.
In an interview with Inside Edition, Gibbs revealed that she first came out to her mother at the age of 19 while watching True Life: I'm Coming Out.
The duo was watching TV when the comedian suddenly blurted out that she was not attracted to men; however, her mom did not react the way she expected.
"I honestly couldn't bring myself to straight up say, 'I think I'm X, Y or Z,'" Gibbs joked. "I was like, 'I don't think that I connect with men the way I think I should.' And she was just like, 'What?'"
Gibbs says her mother just left the room and never spoke of it again. They avoided the conversation for seven years until she came out again in the hit of the moment.

The actress called her parent from an ice cream parlor and blurted her heart out.
"I called, and I was like, 'Look, this is what it is. This is how I feel,'" Gibbs said. "I just kept it real straightforward, and it was emotional, and eventually she was just like, 'All right.'
Though she asked her to hide her sexuality in front of others, which Gibbs disagreed with, fortunately, she was more than understanding this time.
"But she, being the amazing, incredible person and mother that she is, got through her own hangups around it and was like, 'I love you regardless, and I'm here for you and I support you.'"
According to the actress, making jokes and her stand-up gigs help her deal with her "closeted life."
