Meet Jowana El-Daouk-Up And Coming Actress Among The Cast Of The Trials At Donmar Warehouse

Jowana El-Daouk is an up-and-coming theatre artist. She is all set to appear as one of the Jurors in the upcoming UK premiere of The Trials by Dawn King.

Who Is Jowana El-Daouk?

Jowana El-Daouk is a rising actress. She was born and raised in London. Always into acting, she is professionally starting her career in theatre.

If we believe the sources, "The Trials" is her first-ever big theatre job, and she is ready for her grand debut in the acting world.

Reportedly, El-Daouk was chosen among 1372 young people for her part. 

One thousand three hundred seventy-two youngsters were engaged through community groups and schools in development workshops for the play at Royal Central School of Speech and Drama.

She is among 12 of the chosen ones. The officials stated:

"During this phase of the project, the participants worked with Dawn King, had sessions in voice, movement, and performance skills, took part in sessions on climate activism, and devised new work on the subject of climate justice. Over half of the company will make their professional debuts at the Donmar this Summer."

Similarly, according to Michael Longhurst, the Donmar's artistic director, they have gone through an extensive engagement program with young Londoners to cast for the role.

They have opened routes for them to enter the acting industry.

Longhurst said:

"I am proud that as part of our casting process for The Trials, the Donmar has created an extensive engagement programme with young Londoners from our community, opening routes into the industry and platforming the next generation of actors and activists."

Dawn King's New Venture-The Trials

Dawn King is an award-winning theatre, television, VR, and radio writer. Her first play Foxfinder was the winner of the 2011 Papatango New Writing Competition.

Her other plays include Dinosaur for Theatre 503, Face Value for the Stephen Joseph Scarborough, and Water Sculptures/Zoo for the Union Theatre.

Similarly, she is famous for shows like Doghead Boy and Sharkmouth Go To Ikea for the Junction Cambridge and Edinburgh and on a national tour.

King's new and biggest venture is The Trials. The play is about climate change and the crisis it caused for the coming generation.

Further, the show is set in the future and revolves around the court case and trial.

The story revolved around the children jurors who will judge the older generation's contributions to the climate crisis. Jowana El-Daouk will play one of the jurors.

Renowed British theatre, film, and opera director Natalie Abrahami will direct the show.

The show is already a finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize, and it also received its world premiere at the Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus in 2021.

Honor Kneafsey as Ren-She is a British actress best known for her voice role as Robyn Goodfellow in Wolfwalkers and Jodie Dawson in Benidorm.

Joe Locke as Noah-The new young heartthrob Joe Locke rose to fame following his portrayal as Charlie Spring in the Netflix series Heartstopper. The show is based on Alice Alice Oseman's comic, starring him and Kit Connor in the lead role.

Rue Millwood as Chris-The rising actor known for appearing in Speak Out.

Charlie Reid as Tomaz- He is the new teen actor known for appearing in shows like The Bird Game.

Meréana Tomlinson as Kako-She is also the new actor making her debut in The Trials.

The show also features established actors like Sharon Small and Nigel Lindsay. Scottish film, radio, theatre, and television actress Small is best known for her role as Detective Sergeant Barbara Havers in The Inspector Lynley Mysteries.

Similarly, English actor Nigel Lindsay is best known for his roles as Jo Jo Marshall in the Netflix series Safe and Sir Robert Peel in the first two seasons of Victoria.

The Trails is under Donmar LOCAL production and will run at The Donmar Warehouse from 12 August until 27 August 2022.
