Professionally an engineer, Kai Dugan rose to fame as the son of the Academy award-winning actress Jennifer Connelly and photographer David Dugan. 

He is also the stepson of English actor Paul Bettany most known for the role of Vision in the Marvel cinematic universe.

Dugan is a Yale graduate and works at Lockheed Martin as a systems engineer associate.

Kai Dugan was born in July 1997 to Jennifer Connelly and her then-boyfriend, photographer David Dugan.

As of May 2022, he is 24 years old. His height is a bit shorter than his step-father Paul Bettany, who is 6 feet 2 inches, so he is observantly 2/3 inches smaller.

He was supposed to name Liam, but his folks changed his name to Kai after birth. According to them, he looked a bit exotic, and the name Liam did not match his appearance.

The word ‘Kai’ means ocean in Hawaiian.

Who Is Kai Dugan's Father?

As mentioned earlier, he is the son of photographer David Dugan. Nothing much is revealed about him in the media.

In an interview with the Sun, Connelly revealed that David left the house when Kai was around 4/5.

"I never married his dad. We were living together and his dad moved out. I stayed in the home."

Kai Dugan Attended Yale Like His Self-Proclaimed Nerd Mother Connelly

Dugan, who always wanted to be an architect or an engineer, attended Yale University just like his mom.

He graduated in 2019, earning a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

When Kai was 12, Jennifer mentioned in an interview that he "is a brilliant skier and musician, who wants to be an architect or engineer".

She studied English literature at Yale University in 1988. The actress described herself as:

"a student who wasn't really concerned with having a social life or sleeping or eating much. I was really nerdy and pretty much stayed in the law-school library, which is open 24 hours, most of the time I wasn't in class".

She left Yale after two years and transferred to Stanford University to study drama.

Kai Dugan Works At Lockheed Martin As A Systems Engineer

Kai Dugan worked as a Project Leader at Bulldogs Racing from October 2015 to May 2019.

It was a Yale Undergraduate Organization in New Haven, Connecticut, that would become a world-renowned college racing team in the future.

Similarly, he also co-founded Turboarcjet in 2017. A group of students manufactured and designed an electric-powered jet engine for aerospace applications.

Dugan also worked as an intern at aquaTECTURE, LLC in Los Angeles, California, while still in college.

Eventually, after graduation, he joined Lockheed Martin, American aerospace, arms, information security, and defense company.

Kai has been working as a Systems Engineer Associate since August 2019.
