The family (along with her two siblings) moved to Manchester, England, when the actress was 1 year old.

Her folks did not get a teaching license in the UK, so her father returned to Nigeria.

"My grandmother taught me so many lessons: to take people as they are, to remember your duty to others, and to try and live day to day. There's also a definite performance element running through her side of the family. She'd sit in front of the TV trying to do the accents even though she doesn't speak any English."

As for her education, Wunmi attended Trinity Church of England High School in Hulme, Manchester, and later joined Xaverian Sixth Form College.

Wunmi Mosaku started her journey from broadway productions-her stage debut was at the Arcola Theatre in a production of Pedro Calderón de la Barca's The Great Theatre of the World.
