Sam Worthington was born Samuel Henry John Worthington on 2 August 1976 in Godalming, Surrey, England.

Sam Worthington is best known for the role of Jake Sully / Tom Sully in the American science fiction film Avatar. 

Directed, written, produced, and co-edited by James Cameron, the movie is set in the mid-22nd century when humans are colonizing Pandora, a lush habitable moon of a gas giant in the Alpha Centauri star system. 

The expansion of the colony threatens the continued existence of a local tribe of Navi, a humanoid species indigenous to Pandora.
