While a divorce can happen for various reasons, which only a couple can know, the reality star, in one of her interviews, revealed that her former husband warned her that RHOP would end their relationship.

During an interview with The Daily Dish podcast, the mother of two revealed that "Eddie warned her that if she joined The Real Housewives of Potomac, they would get divorced.".

She said:

"When I told [Eddie], I said, 'They want me to do this reality show' — at the time we didn't know it was Housewives, we were thinking maybe it could be Housewives — and so he said, 'Well, if you do it, we'll probably get a divorce.'"

She also stated she had experienced a few deaths in her family then, and when Eddie brought up the D-word, It felt like another death for her.

Charrisse admitted feeling angry, heartbroken, and overwhelmed. She continued saying:

"It was not the answer I was expecting. So when he said it, I was devastated. Like I literally gave up my career twice because of his career. We moved to California, then New Jersey, Maryland, Philly, then back to Maryland, and now I say a few words, and you're going to say to me divorce if I do this? So it kind of put me in a different space of, 'Now I really want to do this.'"

In the end, despite her spouse's objection, she joined the reality show for herself. She wanted to make a name for herself and try something new to reinvent herself in the industry.

"I needed to do it for me, so that's why I did it," said Charisse.

While it may not be the only reason, the reality show and long distance (as Eddie resided in New Jersey while Charrisse and the children lived in Potomac ) definitely took a toll on their relationship.

The pair separated in 2017 and officially divorced in 2019. Charrisse confirmed her divorce via an Instagram selfie with a caption; "I woke up single this morning. On the market."

She said, "Who knew that entering a new chapter in my life would be this exciting. Thank you for the love and support during this journey. I've gotten so much love that I can't begin to express how much it meant to me. Thank you. Just Charrisse. Free at last."

Similarly, it seems the exes still have bad blood. While an interview with Bravo Insider's Life After Bravo, the 57-year-old reality star stated she and her ex are in no contact.
